A Quilt Story

My Newest Addition

…and it’s not a quilt. Although, I do have plenty of quilts in this post.

My daughter, Philippa, arrived on November 13, early in the morning and in a hurry to get here. I’ve been busy spending time getting to know her as well as my usual taxiing duties after all the teenagers in this house. Thankfully, my husband is home for two weeks (it’s been a few years since he’s had that much time home) so he’s helping with that as well as spending time with Philippa (or Pip as we sometimes call her) as well.

Here she is in all her newborn, sweet, lovely goodness!

Have you ever seen such an adorable baby? I may have nine years ago (when my last baby was born) but it’s hard to remember. 🙂

Oh, and my photographer friend, Jennifer Jones Photography (check out her facebook), did an amazing job with her newborn pictures. I highly recommend you check her out if you need a photographer for anything. She recommended I bring along some of the quilts I’ve made to the shoot. I am so glad I did. I love having my quilts in these pictures!

In this photograph, Philippa is on the very first quilt top I ever completed. It’s a simple jelly roll race out of one of my favorite fabric lines, PB&J by Basic Gray from Moda.

This quilt is one I finished in September when I really should have been working on Christmas presents or baby stuff. I just wanted to make something “just for the heck of it” and went with the Candy Coated Quilt (blogged about it here)  by Amanda Jean of Crazy Mom Quilts. It’s from the book Sunday Morning Quilts which is probably my favorite quilting book.

This was my Hip to be Square scrap challenge from Pat Sloan.  I love her scrap challenges and only did one this year (going to work on that in 2016). It ended up being one of my favorite quilts!

Just for fun, here is one more of Miss Philippa. I cannot stop looking at these pictures!
