In early May I mentioned to my mother that I’d planned to make her a table runner for Mother’s Day but had run out of time (I was busily trying to finish quilts for my girls to give as gifts to teachers and room mothers!) I told her I’d have to buy something else for her. She quickly replied that she’d rather wait and still get the table runner. It was really cute to see her get so excited about it.
This summer I began her table runner using these blocks. It’s a jelly roll pattern I found on Missouri Star Quilting Company’s Youtube tutorials. Anyone else love those tutorials?? I may be obsessed a bit with Jenny Doan.
Anyway, I finished the runner top fairly quickly but just like with my quilts I seemed to get stuck at the basting/sandwiching. Really, it’s quite silly of me – especially with a table runner. They are not difficult to baste at all and when I finally got around to it I did it in just a few minutes.
I quilted it the same night I basted it but then school began last week. It’s been sitting on my sewing table for two weeks just waiting to be completed. Last night was girls night at my local quilt shop so I threw it in my project bag, grabbed some scrap fabric I thought would make a nice binding and decided to finish it there.
I delivered it to my mother this morning. She was quite happy to have it for her buffet in her dining room.
I think it looks pretty nice myself.
About halfway through taking pictures, my mom came in and changed pitcher’s on the buffet so that it matched better.
And here are a few pictures of the details.
